Female fronted guitar driven rock band ERIC AND THE BUNNY BOILERS have announced their long awaited return to the UK music scene, with a new studio album, summer live dates, and a special 10 track live EP recorded at KING TUTS in Glasgow.
The angst fuelled Glasgow four-piece - who met while attending TURNBULL HIGH SCHOOL in Bishopbriggs, begin their UK tourdates with the launch night for their new debut album THE EX FILES this week at THE FLYING DUCK. The event, which will also be screened online for US fans, will also feature premiere screening of their recently completed music video for “The Psychopath Next Door”.
Boasting eclectic influences, including BRODY DALLE, GARBAGE, SIOXISIE AND THE BANSHEES, ELASTICA and DAVID BOWIE, ERIC AND THE BUNNY BOILERS first exploded onto the UK music scene in 2005 with their dark and brooding indie-rock anthem “Heard You Say”, which reached top spot in the BT BROADBAND NEW MUSIC CHART as the first ever Scottish number one. Performances at some of the UK's best festivals and events including T IN THE PARK and IN THE CITY followed, with invitation to support the likes of BLONDIE, SPANDAU BALLET and US rock band VANILLA FUDGE. The group also appear as “special guests” on PLACEBO's “Androgyny” DVD, produced by FOCAL POINT MEDIA.
Recently recording new live sessions from their home in Glasgow for YouTube, ERIC AND THE BUNNY BOILERS promise fans a “unique twist” to their original punk/pop mix - with fresh electro-synth sounds inspired by early 80's cinema and classic B-movies. Teasers for their forthcoming genre hopping singles “Straight Girl” and “Once Upon a Time” also go online this week, paying homage to films, such as GREASE, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and LABYRINTH.
“Listening to our album is a bit like flicking channels on a TV,” says singer/songwriter and guitarist MICHELLE MARTIN – who is also a crime writer, TV producer and author. “Each song takes you on a different journey with a different genre.”
She added: “We had a lot of fun in the studio and behind the scenes on the music videos, and are looking forward to meeting fans again after such a long time away.”
As well as larger festivals and events, ERIC AND THE BUNNY BOILERS will also perform at a number of specially planned unplugged “pop-up” events at more intimate venues, including coffee shops, vintage stores and boutique shops across the UK.
